How does a municipality work? Basic knowledge for new immigrants

How does a municipality function? What does local government do? How are decisions made? How do I find my way around? This is not easy for most people to understand. Especially not for new immigrants. The MOVE programme within the "GoRegional" project of Starkmacher e.V. in cooperation with the Landeszentrale für politische Bildung BaWü supports municipalities in Baden-Württemberg in the basic qualification of young people who want to get involved in voluntary work, prepare for an internship or simply want to get a better orientation.

Understanding community, shaping community, living community

MOVE consists of three interrelated modules and is designed in such a way that it can also be implemented during corona-related restrictions. Module 1 and 3 take place online, module 2 is an interactive city rally that is implemented in small groups and outdoors.

Module 1: Basic Knowledge Workshop: Municipality and Democracy (approx. 2 hours online)

Module 2: ActionBound - interactive scavenger hunt through the municipality (approx. 3 hours on site in the respective municipality)

Module 3: Follow-up and reflection workshop (approx. 2 hours online)
